SparkAction and the Act4JJ Coalition have created a new toolkit to enable advocates to mobilize and effectively communicate about the importance of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act (JJDPA).The JJDPA was first enacted in 1974 and was last reauthorized in 2002. S. 1169, a bipartisan bill that would update the existing JJDPA, was approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee on July 23 of this year. Before it can become law, the measure must be approved by the full Senate and House of Representatives. This new toolkit helps advocates educate Members about the importance of reauthorizing the JJDPA. The new toolkit includes:
- Memes and hashtags that can be posted on social media,
- Talking points that can be used during meetings with Congress and their staff, and
- Sample letters to the editor that can be published in your local media outlets.
